Hello
I’m
Alberto Ferreira, I'm 52 and I live and work in Paredes, northern Portugal.
This
lesson is for week 2 of Introduction to Music Production
at Coursera.org.
I will be teaching how to add a software instrument and
record MIDI and quantize in my DAW.
Some years ago I discovered Fruity Loops, a DAW mainly dealing with midi, developed by Belgian
company Image Line. I’ve tried different demo versions since FL 4 and more
recently I’ve purchased and downloaded the FL
Studio 11.1 Producer Edition (Signature Bundle), which has now
improved the integration of audio and midi.
I’ve also
bought an EDIROL PCR-M50 midi keyboard controller, which
included a cd with CUBASE LE (version
1.0.10.), a DAW developed by German company Steinberg.
You’ll find
the corresponding videos in the links below.
1.
Project set up : sampling
rate, bit depth and recording file type;
Add a midi track
2. Set buffer size to 128 samples, check Asio driver for lower latency
Adding a softsynth instrument :
Sytrus from FL Studio
3. Name the track and set the click and countoff
4. Press the Record enable button and Play!
audio file 1
5. Then I opened the Midi Editor
Adjusted and added some notes and applied a
quantisation value of 1/16 note
audio file2
----------------»»--------------
I’m using Jing for the first time and I didn’t have time to explore it conveniently.
After step 3 I started having problems with my audio interface and Jing
didn’t recognise my microphone anymore. So, I opted then to show some pictures
of the next steps followed by two audio files.
Anyway, I’d like to know if I’ve made my point clear and I thank you for
reading, watching and evaluating my work.
Best regards
Adalmiro Ferreira
